Pressure builds on AOL
The pressure continues to build on AOL with regard to their pay-to-send plan for emailers.
Rather than protecting their users from spam by only allowing certified emails through (certification will, of course, incur a charge), it's now come to light that most AOL users will still get uncertified mail (ie. spam), as well as certified emails.
So how exactly does that help? From what I can see it doesn't really - but it'll give AOL a load more cash, sometimes at the cost of charities and non-profits that use e-newsletters to build relationships with prospective donors.
A coalition has now been set up to campaign against it, if you want to take action here's a simple guide outlining what you can do.
