A million for a million ball

Over £275,000 (net) was raised at online charity YouthNet's first a million for a million ball at Vinopolis in London on Thursday 3 May 2007 - almost doubling the fundraising target set before the event.

Founder and Chair, Martyn Lewis, hosted the event, which kicked off a three-year campaign to raise £1 million for the TheSite.org – YouthNet's award-winning website for young people.

The a million for a million campaign is led by the YouthNet Development Group, chaired by Kyle Whitehill, Vodafone Enterprise Business Unit Director. The campaign aims to raise £1 million to double the number of monthly visitors to TheSite.org from 500,000 to one million.

Whatever the issue or concern, TheSite.org provides young people with information and guidance to help them work through difficult or emotionally distressing periods in their lives.

Leading business people, sports personalities and young people were among the 300 guests at the glamorous fundraising event, which included a champagne reception and dinner, an auction of money-can't-buy lots, and an interview with a young person who had used TheSite.org for support and advice.
