YouthNet seeks young web enthusiasts

Leading online charity YouthNet is inviting web loving 16 to 25 year olds to join an exclusive online community, to help develop its award-winning guide to life for young people, TheSite.org.

The team of 'TheSite.org leaders' will directly shape the future of the online service, which provides vital, straight-talking advice to 170,000 young people a month, by discussing and debating ideas as well as testing and providing feedback on developments.

Helen Williams, Communities Involvement Manager at YouthNet, said, "This is a fantastic opportunity for young people who are passionate about technology to gain experience in website development and make a positive difference to the future of TheSite.org.

"It's crucial that young people's views and opinions are at the heart of the service to ensure that the support and guidance we provide remains relevant, valuable and at the forefront of new technology."

People interested in the role don't need any experience other than an interest in the web and can find out more by visiting www.thesite.org/about_us/getinvolved.

TheSite.org leaders will be invited to contribute through YouthNet's exclusive online community which will allow them to start discussions and upload videos and audio content. Most of the project work will take place on the forums where YouthNet will add new topics to the consultation and give TheSite.org leaders the chance to take the lead as the project progresses.

Although the role will primarily be carried out remotely, young people will also be given the chance to take part in offline workshops to learn how to lead new areas of discussion.

TheSite.org provides straight-talking, anonymous information and advice 24 hours a day on subjects including work and study, drink and drugs, and relationships. Its bespoke question and answer service, askTheSite, provides young people with a confidential, personal answer to any question within three working days.
