do-it.org.uk volunteer satisfaction survey 2005
YouthNet carried out a volunteer satisfaction survey in Summer 2005. It was completed by 675 respondents.
The results:
- 41% are aged 15-25, 81% are female, and 17% are from BME groups;
- Over a quarter are studying, and a third are working full-time;
- One in 10 is disabled;
- Two-thirds found out about do-it.org.uk through a search engine or a website link;
- A half had never volunteered before visiting the website;
- Respondents most commonly describe their volunteering experiences as rewarding, interesting and fun;
- People often do not have just one reason for volunteering - for three-quarters one reason is to help others, and for two-thirds, to learn and try new things;
- For more than two thirds, being able to make a difference is one of the most important aspects of an opportunity;
- Volunteering is very important to two-thirds of people.
