Newest opportunity!
Student Events Organiser
We're looking for motivated students who are up for a challenge, to put on events in their university and raise money for YouthNet, the UK's first online charity.
By raising a minimum of just £1750, Student Events Organisers will be helping 16 to 24-year-olds make informed choices about drink, drugs, relationships, travel and more, through our award winning website, www.TheSite.org.
If a career in events, marketing or the charity sector sounds like your kind of thing, then fundraising for YouthNet could open up a world of opportunities.
Project Group Member
This year, YouthNet will be launching a brand new (and so far unamed) website that will help young people make decisions about their work, training and study options. We're looking for project group members to join an exclusive online community to discuss and debate ideas that will directly shape the content and functionality of the website. This is an ongoing virtual volunteering role and if you're passionate about the web it's a great chance to learn more about how websites are built and make sure the site meets the needs of the people who will use it.
Other volunteering opportunities
Answer questions about relationships
Interested in becoming a relationships advisor? Volunteer as an online peer advisor and support young people by answering their questions on relationships. Set up in 2003, askTheSite offers young people access to individual, confidential and expert advice, answering their questions through a safe and secure part of TheSite.org. Your time and skills can make a big difference to our capacity to deal with young people's concerns.
Moderate TheSite.org's discussion boards
Volunteer as a moderator on TheSite.org discussion boards to help us maintain a positive and friendly atmosphere within this active online community. Moderators check posts made by board users and are responsible for ensuring that they comply with our guidelines. Often no action needs to be taken, but moderators are encouraged to provide information and support to help posters, help steer a discussion back on topic, or warn a user about unacceptable behaviour.
Write for TheSite.org
Aspiring journalists: here is your chance to get a piece of work reviewed, edited and published on one of YouthNet's websites. You can be a ranter and talk about something that that's really got on your wick. Or, become a diary writer and submit lively entries on your work, travels or a special circumstance. And, if you have more ideas for informative articles for TheSite, consider a stint as a volunteer journalist.
Blog about your volunteering
Can your volunteering experience inspire others? Are you an engaging writer? You may be a perfect candidate to write a blog for do-it.org.uk. Share your experiences as a volunteer blogger - your motivations, the challenges you face and the rewards you gain.
Get those creative cells working
Apply your skills as a photographer or an artist, and add some more colour to our websites. We go through a massive amount of images for articles, promotional work, email updates and even blog entries. So we're always on the lookout for TheSite photographers.
How to apply
Click on the links to our postings on do-it.org.uk where you can read more information about the opportunity. You may submit an online application to any opportunity by registering on do-it.org.uk.
Someone from YouthNet's volunteering team will respond within a workweek with more information about the opportunity, including the next steps in the recruitment process. Depending on the role, these may include writing a letter about your interest in the opportunity, completing an exercise, or having an informal interview with one of us by telephone or in person.
We hope to hear from you!
