Our partnership:

In August 2007, HBOS Foundation committed a total of £300,000 to fund a joint programme, Advice Changing Young Lives, run by YouthNet and Citizens Advice. The programme brings together the strengths of two leading UK charities to ensure that 16-24 year-olds know where to turn to get the help and support they need with vital money matters.

The Advice Changing Young Lives programme will involve young people at every step of the way. Starting with a survey gathering 16-24 year-olds' thoughts and feedback, the programme will be driven by what young people say they want and need.

Over the course of three years, YouthNet and Citizens Advice will work together to jointly create new financial Fact Sheets, developed in a tone and style young people relate to, for both TheSite.org and Adviceguide. Financial literacy advice and support will also be created and disseminated in audio format, and for the very first time, through TheSite.org on mobile phones.

"This ground-breaking financial literacy advice programme is exactly the type of work the Foundation looks to support through its Money Advice and Financial Literacy funding stream."

The Advice Changing Young Lives programme – which combines the specific expertise of YouthNet and Citizens Advice – is an example of what a truly innovative partnership can achieve for young people.

Together, YouthNet and Citizens Advice are committed to improving young people's access to money management support and advice. Thanks to the support of the HBOS Foundation, we are able to make this ambition a reality.

HBOS Foundation says:

"The Foundation's Trustees were delighted to be able to support this innovative project and strategic partnership between Citizens Advice and YouthNet, bringing together their different strengths and unique areas of expertise.

This ground-breaking financial literacy advice programme for young people is exactly the type of work the Foundation looks to support through its Money Advice and Financial Literacy funding stream, to support for young people and help them understand financial matters and take effective decisions regarding money."
