About the Gold Challenge

There are three great challenges to choose from depending on whether you want to learn new sports, push yourself over 2012 km or complete your whole Gold Challenge in a day. YouthNet has 100 places so whether you fancy taking up the challenge by yourself or with a group of friends or colleagues, we’d love you to join our team.

Here are the challenges:

Olympic Sport Challenge

Learn Olympic or Paralympic sports by taking on a 5, 10, 20 or 30 sport challenge.  Choose your sports from a list of 30 Olympic and Paralympic Sports then use the Sports Finder in the sports section to find the local club, coach or event where you can do your chosen sport.

2012 km Challenge


This challenge is great for teams or those individuals who want to push themselves.  There are three possible levels depending on how adventurous you are feeling:

• 2012 km
• 201.2 km
• 20.12 km

You or your team must cover your chosen distance via one or more of the following sports (for teams this is an aggregated total):

• Running (jogging, road-running, on a treadmill or on a track)
• Walking (on a treadmill, on a track, rambling or hillwalking)
• Cycling (in a gym, on a track, on the roads or off-road)
• Swimming (in a pool or in open water)
• Canoeing/Kayaking (inland or offshore)
• Horse riding
• Rowing (on a rowing machine or on water)
• Sailing (inland or offshore)

Gold Challenge Time Trial

This challenge is great for keen gym goers, regular runners/swimmers/cyclists or triathletes.  It’s a great way to test your fitness or push yourself to the next level. There are three levels of challenge; the sprint, endurance and ultra.
You or your team must cover the below distances back to back recording your total time including transitions:


All disciplines can be done outdoors or in a gym. If you are in a team you can complete the challenge as a relay.  When you have completed your chosen challenge, update your My Page with your time and claim your reward.

Fundraising:

As well getting involved in the excitement of London 2012, the Gold Challenge provides a great way to raise funds to help YouthNet provide vital information and support about anything and everything for 16 – 25 year olds, whenever and wherever they need it.

We’d love you to raise as much as possible for YouthNet – be ambitious! To help you get started with a fundraising target, why not start by aiming to raise £50 – £100 per sport you complete, or what about giving yourself a suitably Olympic themed target of £2012?
We will help you every step of the way to reach your fundraising target. To get you started, take a look at our fundraising tips, which will give you plenty of ideas to get the money rolling in.

If you like the sound of raising money for YouthNet by taking part in the Gold Challenge, all you need to do is visit the registration page, fill in the online form and pay your deposit.  We will then sign you up and your place will be confirmed.
